With a few days left to the celebration of the Christmas festive days, the Ugandan police have issued new security measures to curb the rate of crime which is always in high prevalence in these busy days.
While addressing the media today in the weekly press briefing at the Police headquarters in Naguru, the police spokesperson Fred Enanga called upon the public to be security conscious because many criminals take advantage of these busy days to go for crimes.
Fred revealed to Ugandans not to move with physical cash with them, change movements in the banks and also seek for security were necessary.
He issued out 999 and other emergency hotlines where the public can reach out police services during the busy and active festival Christmas days.
Fred further called upon the public to work closely with the police and all security operatives to curb the rate of crime giving out warning that these emergency hotlines are meant to help only those in danger.
“If there is no emergency, you should use other means of reaching us like Twitter than calling without an immediate need.” Fred added.
This briefing comes when the Uganda Police force previously on July 22, 2023 released a report that shows that crime rates in the country have increased by 20% in the past year
