Shock as 47-year-old Sets Herself Ablaze over Child

A 47-year-old woman identified as Ajio Anna, a resident of Lajopi Cesia village in Adjumani town council of Adjumani district, burnt herself to death in her house leaving the village members in shock.

The tragedy occurred on Friday October 29, 2021 at around 3pm when most of the village members were not around.

Ms Tarakpe Beatrice, one of her sisters narrated to our reporter that late Ajio got angry after her brothers gave her 5-year-old son to the father without her consent, which prompted her to set her house and herself on fire, perishing in the flames.

Tarakpe further explained that late Ajio has several times threatened to commit suicide but was advised against it until Friday in presence of people at home when she said she was going to pick clothes from her house where she instead self-immolated.

Mr. Draru Frederick, one of the elders urged the family members and other relatives not finger point one another for the death of Ajio.

Ms Abio Alice Drani, the area local council one chairperson of the village strongly appealed to the residents in her village to desist from committing such crimes that can cause fear among the people and she further urged people to be calm as they wait to bury the deceased.

The late Ajio  left behind five orphans.
