Two Teenagers Choke to Death in Amuru

Two teenagers have suffocated to death in a kiosk in Pabbo Sub County Amuru district. The dead have been identified as 16-year-old Bosco Ayella and 15-year-old William Kakanyero.
Their lifeless bodies were found on Thursday morning lying in a kiosk belonging to Walter Ochora, a local businessman in Labala Trading Centre in Pabbo Sub County where they have been running an eatery.
Ochora told URN that members of the public and including him became suspicious when the kiosk door remained closed for several hours as opposed to the previous days. He explained that he used a spare key to open the kiosk door only to find the two lying dead on their bellies on a table inside the kiosk.
The also a burning charcoal stove with boiling beans on top probably the two were preparing for the day’s business. A team of detectives from Pabbo Police Station led by John Ocen visited the scene and retrieved the bodies and delivered them to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital in Gulu City for postmortem.
David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River Regional Police Spokesperson, said police in Amuru is investigating a case of sudden death. He, however, says that preliminary findings indicate that the two might have choked to death due to poor ventilation resulting from the fumes from the charcoal stove.
He also revealed that they are investigating Ochora for child labour and negligence leading to the death of the teenagers. This is the third person to die in Pabbo Sub County this year due to choking.
