Budaka district headquarters has been closed after 10 staff members testing positive for COVID-19.
The affected employees were diagnosed following a mass testing exercise conducted last week prompting the Resident District Commissioner, Tom Chesol to order the closure of the offices in his capacity as the District COVID-19 taskforce chairperson.
Chesol told journalists on Tuesday that they decided to close the district offices to allow for disinfection to prevent more infections.
He says while the country is awaiting the arrival of additional COVID-19 vaccines, there is a need for Ugandans to observe the Standard Operating Procedures to stay safe from infection.
Budaka district has registered over 30 COVID-19 cases in less than a week’s time.
