Edward Kaiso, a traditional healer from Buwuula village in Bugulumbya sub-county, in Kamuli district over the death of 35-year-old Fatuma Kifuko and her newly born child.

Kifuko reportedly developed labor pains on Sunday night and went to Kaiso’s home for redress. She, however, developed unforeseen complications immediately after giving birth to a baby boy who died moments later. Kifuko also bled to death prompting the Kaiso to flee for dear life.

Her husband Geoffrey Kyalo, says that Kifuko experienced intense labor pangs prompting them to seek services from Kaiso due to the lack of funds to rush her to Kamuli general hospital, which is about 15 kilometers away.

Busoga North police spokesperson, Michael Kasadha says that the deceased’s body has been conveyed to Kamuli general hospital mortuary for postmortem. Kasadha says that inquiries are ongoing and he challenged members of the general public to seek healthcare from professional medical practitioners rather than opting for traditional healers who lack the expertise to handle such complications.
