Four Confirmed Dead in Bundibugyo Accident

At least four people were killed and one other critically injured in an accident at Lugo Village, along Lamia road in Bundibugyo District last evening.

The accident involved two motorcycles registration numbers UFE-571U and UFD-101D and a numberless Tata truck belonging to ESCO, a cocoa company.

Arnold Ategeka, an eyewitness says the driver of the truck was driving from Nyahuka to Bundibugyo town but failed to negotiate a corner and rammed into the two motorcycles which were coming from the opposite direction. The four who were all on the motorcycle died on spot.

The truck driver escaped after the incident, while the bodies and the injured have been taken to Busaru IV. The dead include a mother and her baby.

Benon Habarurema, the District Traffic Officer confirms the incident adding that investigations are on to establish the identities of the victims and the possible cause of the accident.
