A woman, whose husband was arrested by security personnel is demanding for his release.
In the case filed before the High Court in Kampala, Hamidah Nabukenya alleges that on October 26, security personnel abducted four men among them her husband, Jamil Lukonge and took them to an unknown destination.
She alleges that Lukonge was jointly arrested with Amir Segawa, Farouk Lubba and Bashir Luyombya by armed plain-clothed security personnel who bundled them into a car and drove them to an unknown place.
Nabukenya alleges that her husband and the others were arrested from Furniture Shop on Gayaza Road and that was the last time she saw him.

“That I have made several attempts to trace the whereabouts of my husband and the other applicants in all gazetted police stations and known detention facilities but I have failed to trace them,” she said in a sworn statement.

Nabukenya has sued the Inspector General of Police, the Chief of Defence Forces, the Chief of Military Intelligence, the Commandant of the Special Investigations Unit and the Attorney General.
Through her lawyers of Nyanzi, Kiboneka and Mbabazi and Nalukoola, Kafeero Advocates, the complainant is seeking for a court order to direct the security agencies to immediately present the four in courts of law.
Nabukenya alleges that the four men are likely to be under intense torture and inhuman treatment by the security personnel.
The lawyers state that it is in the interest of justice for the court to review the legality of the applicants’ arrest, imprisonment and detention and challenge the authority to present them in court.
Last week, the High Court ordered for the release of three women who were arrested after security personnel shot dead Muslim Cleric Sheikh Abas Muhammad Kirevu in Busabala-Makindye Ssabagabo Division, Wakiso District.

They are Amina Nabadda and Sofia Nakachwa are widows of the late Sheikh Kirevu as well as a sister in law, Mariam Najjuuko.
